Epoxy vs. polyaspartic: what should you compare?

Compare the complete floor system and its intended use, rather than choosing on the name of one coating. Epoxy and polyaspartic are different materials, and a proposed system may use different products in different layers.

Ask for the layer-by-layer proposal

Have the installer explain the primer, base coat, decorative layer and protective topcoat. Product names and current manufacturer instructions make the proposal easier to evaluate than a broad label such as premium coating. Ask why those layers suit your slab and the way you use the room.

Discuss the conditions that matter

Tell the owners about sunlight through an open garage door, vehicle traffic, cleaning and your required return-to-use date. Do not treat one advertised cure time or warranty as applying to every product. The written scope should explain the selected system and its limitations.

Keep your comparison in writing

Make a short side-by-side list of the products, preparation, decorative finish, topcoat and return-to-use instructions in each proposal. Ask about a missing item before deciding on the material label alone. Keep the same floor area and intended use in both conversations.
