Compare the same scope
Ask each installer to identify coating removal, concrete repairs, preparation, base coat, decorative finish and topcoat separately. A low total can leave out work that another proposal includes. Keep the surface area and included edges or steps consistent when comparing proposals.
Build a budget around your floor
Measure the space, note old paint or sealer, and describe how you will use it. Our public planning range is $6.00–$14.50 per square foot: standard flake and solid-color systems begin at the low end, while metallic and designer finishes can reach the high end. Photos help start the discussion, but the owners need to evaluate the slab before confirming a price.
What to bring to a budget conversation
Bring a rough measurement and separate the main floor from steps or additional rooms. Use the planning range as a preliminary ballpark, not a final quote. Ask for the written estimate to distinguish included work from changes that would need approval.
Questions for your estimate
- Which repairs are included?
- Are edges, steps and coating removal included?
- What might require a written change to the estimate?
